How do I become a part of the mentor/tutor team?

At this one-half hour presentation we will share an overview of the ten week program, cover the specific dates and times (bring your calendar), answer any questions and if the program meets your needs, applications will be available.

I've submitted the mentor application and have been accepted. What's next?

At this meeting, our Community Partners and Training Staff will be introduced. This ILEP Program is developed and managed by Elsa Brizzi, Board Member of The Woman's Club of Laguna Beach and is supported by eight outstanding non-profit organizations who are major contributors to the well-being of our community and are committed to literacy enhancement for our children.

You will have an opportunity to meet and greet your team members, review the schedule and get prepared for our mentor/tutor training day.

Okay, I'm as ready as I'll ever be, so what happens next?


10 Weeks: Wednesdays starting in January and ending in March
90 minute sessions: 3:15 - 4:45 PM

3:00 PM - Mentors will be picked up at Susi Q by the Sally's Fund Van and driven to The Boys & Girls Club of Laguna Beach
5:00 PM - Drop off back to Senior Center

At the first session, you will meet your child and begin the process of building your partnership.

Get ready to celebrate! Our Special You Reading Club Members will be sharing their good work with their parents and families at:

Saturday, end of 10 week sessions from 11:00 - Noon

The children will share their accomplishments with an audience that includes their parents and families along with the mentor/tutors, representatives of the partner organizations and the community. The children will read, as a group, the text of: YOU Are A Very Special YOU. They will each show and share their favorite page from their "SPECIAL ME" book. These are the books created, illustrated and authored by each child in the six-week program.
